Long Walk For Charity

Blackness LibraryA punishing schedule of 44 miles of walking every day for six days, lies ahead of four Dundee men as they attempt to walk to Manchester for charity. The four, all members of Tayside St Mungo Lodge of the Buffaloes, are trying to raise £1000 for the Arbroath Adult Training Centre. The walk's organiser Mr Patrick Allen, 129, Kingsway East, who suffers from a bone disease, will be travelling in a support car, to back up the walkers. Read more......

Scottish Strawberries

City ChurchesA wedding gift of strawberries to Prince Charles and Lady Diana Spencer was flown to London today by a group of North-East farmers.

Grampian Growers, a co-operative of 18 farmers, mainly in Kincardine and Angus sent 150 lbs of berries from their farms to be delivered to Buckingham Palace. Read more......

Red Cross Week

MurraygateTo mark the beginning of Red Cross Week, the Dundee branch of the British Red Cross Society will take part in the morning service at 11am tomorrow in Dundee Parish Church, (St Mary's).

Lord Provost J.P Gowans, JP, Patron of the Dundee Branch, Miss I.B.S Clark, Branch President, Miss G.D Thomson, MBE,  Branch Director - accompanied by officers and member including youth and juniors will attend. Read more......
