Hundreds of bottles of lager, stout and export ale were smashed in Dens Road, Dundee at lunch-time today when a lorry belonging to Thomas Usher and Co Ltd., Edinburgh crashed into a bus stop. The lorry which was city bound skidded on wet cobbles and collided with the pole, tearing off a wastepaper container and sending nearly two dozen crates cascading onto the pavement outside the Eagle Jute Mills.
Gallons of beer, mixed with rain which was falling steadily at the time, flowed down the gutter into the drain at the corner of Dens Road and Victoria Street, while a gallery of lunch-time customers from neighbouring bars stood by, open-mouthed.
