The steamer Corsica, which plies regularly between Dundee and Hamburg met with a mishap while entering Dundee Harbour on Thursday. She was making for the lockway to Camperdown Dock when she fouled the west roundhead. Several cross-beams of the wharf were broken, but there was no apparent damage to the steamer.
Gliding Club Formed
The formation of a gliding club was agreed to at a meeting in the Royal Hotel, on Thursday night.
It was suggested that the club be named the Dundee Aero and Gliding Club. As its name implies the club has been formed with the object of bringing the new sport of gliding to Dundee and encouraging aviation generally among Dundonians.
The Corporation bus service is to be augmented by eight new machines in the near future. Hitherto the corporation have relied on their fleet of Leyland buses, and while two will be included in the new lot, there will also be two Daimlers and two Maudesleys. Chassis only are to be purchased.
An "at home" and sale of work organised by the Girls' Club of Ogilive Church, which was held in the church hall on Tuesday night, realised the sum of £20. The effort was in aid of the club funds and church purposes.

While Georgina Menzies or Bentley (76) residing at 130 Overgate, was walking eastwards in that thoroughfare on Monday she slipped on the footway and fell, injuring her head. She was taken to the Royal Infirmary and detained. A similar accident befell Mary Jane Currie or Taylor, 130 Overgate. She was also taken to the infirmary and detained.
A new sand company has been formed in Dundee, and the steamer Rosie has been acquired to convey the sand from the river.
It is not only in the central streets that the shopkeepers are preparing for the Christmas and New Year season. In the Overgate and in many of the districts shopkeepers are showing enterprise and skill in decorating and illuminating their windows.
