I was employed with D.C.T Department as a tram driver and drove on the Downfield to Blackness, the Maryfield to Ninewells, Lochee to the Auld Steeple routes and the football trams to the Dens Park games. I enjoyed working on all these routes.
I had a funny experience with my conductor at the terminus one day. This elderly woman approached our tram and before coming on had a word with the conductor expressing that she found the step on to the tram a bit on the high side. He was a bit of a joker, wait a minute he said and turned round to the emergency brake wheel and gave it a few turns and then asked the lady to try that. She smiled at him and said that's better as she came on.
