Born in Clement Park 1947, then lived in 21 Step Row and remember going and getting hard sticks of thin black liquorice and putting it in a lemonade bottle with a rubber stopper, filled with water, then put it under the bed for 2 weeks, boy you can't imagine what a great drink that was.
Mom told me that when the war was on the young woman would go doon the green and wait for a train to go by, and then lift there tops up to the driver, and they would throw out lumps of coal to them , hard times ,but must have been fun , where did you get the coal from darling asks the husband ha ha!!
