Bacon Bran Biscuits

To make these delicious biscuits you require:-

  • ½ cup All-Bran
  • ¾ cup buttermilk
  • 1 ½ cups flour
  • 1 teaspoonful baking powder
  • ½ teaspoonful salt
  • 2 tablespoonfuls crisp diced bacon
  • 4 tablespoonfuls cooled bacon fat
  • ½ teaspoonful soda Soak the all-bran in the buttermilk

Sift flour, baking powder, soda and salt together. Cut in diced bacon and bacon fat until the mixture is like course cornmeal. Add soak all-bran, stir until dough follow fork around the bowl. Turn onto a floured board, knead lightly for a few seconds, roll or pat to ½ an inch thickness and cut with a floured cutter. Bake on a lightly greased pan in hot oven, about 12 minutes. This quantity makes 12 biscuits.
