Waterfront Plan

A multi-million pound plan sponsored by the Scottish Development Agency which will change the face of Dundee's waterfront area and provide many jobs is nearing completion. It will include an "up market" private housing development at Riverside Drive, moving of the Dundee-Glasgow railway line, the building of factories and the setting up of an electronics industrial estate near Invergowrie Bay. Further improvements are also planned for the airport.

Shoppers' Bus Plan Criticised

Dundee shopkeepers hit out yesterday at Tayside Region Transport Department's plan to take a shopper's bus to Ingliston Market, Edinburgh, on the Sundays up to Christmas. The first bus leaves from Whitfield this Sunday. Keiller Centre and Wellgate Market Hall traders condemned the plan, saying it was taking trade away from their premises where prices were just as competitive as at Ingliston.

Another Room Surprise - A Stobswell family are open to suggestions
They lifted the carpet tiles in their kitchen and found a trap-door in a corner. Further examination revealed a large cellar-type room under the floor. It's about 4 feet high and they find they can walk about in it by crouching. Now they're trying to think of the best use for it.

Pupils going ping pong crazy

Linlathen High School went ping-poing crazy at the weekend - and raised almost £400 towards funds for a school mini-bus.

Over 30 people, including pupils and former pupils, played for almost 24 hours as part of a sponsored table-tennis marathon. Ten tables were occupied in the games hall, and play lasted 55 minutes in every hour.
