Some private bowling clubs opened their greens last week, but today the season opens in earnest. Club secretaries say there's no decrease of interest in the sport. Mix fruit with flour, ground almonds and baking powder. Cream butter and sugar til light and creamy, add eggs one by one and beat til smooth. Add the flour and fruit mixture gradually. Prepare loaf tin and put in mixture and bake in moderate oven for 2 to 2½ hours.

A 15 year old boy stole £56 from the houses of his two sisters and shared most of the money with his pals, it was said at Dundee Sheriff Juvenile Court on Monday.
One of his sisters told the Sheriff:- "We are willing to give him another chance" and the boy was put on two years probation.
The fiscal said the boy had got a key to a locked bureau which contained insurance collections in one of his sisters homes. From the beginning of January to the middle of this month he stole £50 in sums of £2 to £15 and share it with other boys. He also stole four times from his sister with whom he lived with.
