Dundee Marksmen Beaten in Final
Edinburgh Citizens' Rifle Club have won the Scottish Cup of the National Smallbore Rifle Assocation.In the final round, from an entry of 85 teams, they scored 1,195 points to beat Dundee and Strathmore Rifle Club by 8 points.

Skipper Hurt in Dundee Sandboat Blast
Lunchtime passersby in Dock Street today were startled by an explosion in the sandboat Wisbech at Earl Grey Dock. Hatch covers were hurled into the air by the blast, and a window was shattered.
It is believed that a burning match had fallen into a can of petrol in the cabin of the ship, which belongs to the Tay Sand Co. Ltd., Royal Arch.
The skipper, James Smith, 335 King Street, Broughty Ferry, was slightly injured, but was able to drive himself away for medical attention.
Christmas Card "Racket", says MP
The Postmaster-General told the Commons today it was estimated 735 million letters and cards were handled during the 1955 Christmas pressure, 27 per cent more than in 1950.
Mr Godfrey Nicholson (Con) asked "has not the Christmas card racket become rather a nuisance?"
Dr Hill replied - "that is not a subject upon which I am called to comment".
1744 New Homes in Scotland
Permanent houses and flats completed in January in Britain totalled 21,269 compared with 28,450 in December and 20,967 in January last year.<
They included 1,744 in Scotland, where the post-war total was raised to 258,386.
