Dundee Steamer Aground
The Dundee Thomson liner Bellona (Captain Grund) arrived in the Tay on Tuesday morning from Quebec with a cargo of timber. While making for Camperdown lockway and at a point directly opposite Camperdown Shipyard she took the ground. Efforts were made to float her, the services of tugs Renown and Gilroy being requisitioned. Their endeavours however were unsuccessful and the vessel remained hard and fast. In the afternoon the two tugs again proceeded to the assistance of the Bellona and with the aid of the rising tide she was refloated.

Child Beggars
Helen Reid (9) and Margaret Reid (7) children of Thomas Reid, Hawker and Ann Ferrier or Reid, of no fixed abode were found begging in the streets of Dundee and taken to a children's shelter. Yesterday the children accompanied by their parents, who were located in Watson's Lane appeared in the Sheriff court. The girls were committed under the industrial schools act to Nazareth House in Aberdeen. Their parents stated that they were not aware that the children were begging but Sheriff Campbell Smith informed them they were none the less responsible and it was his duty to send careless and neglected children to prison.
High Street Congestion
The proposal put forward at the council meeting on Tuesday to change the venue of the market to the vicinity of the Caird Fountain is, I thing, a very practical solution of this difficulty. The proposed site at Shore Terrace is, of all places in the city, the most exposed to the elements.
Robust as most farmers and merchants are, a real stormy day at Shore Terrace would be too much for most of them. From Melville House to the point opposite Dixon's Cutlery Store an excellent site would be secured, with ample space between tram rails and kerbstone to prevent the obstruction either to passenger or vehicular traffic.
