Dundee Fortnight Hottest Since '75
This year's Dundee holiday fortnight was the hottest since 1975 according to figures released by Leuchars Met Office today.
Dundonians enjoyed 182.1 hours of sunshine in August compared with the normal of 151.7 hours. The hottest day? Wednesday 26th August when temperature's reached a max of 24.5 degrees centigrade (76.1f).
Dundee Man Admits Murdering His Wife
A Dundee man admitted murdering his wife when he appeared before Sheriff Cox at Dundee today. Peter Cameron Barron Robertson (52) a prisoner at Perth, was remitted to the High Court for sentence.
He admitted that on July 2 in a house occupied by him at 3, Moncur Crescent, Dundee, he murdered his wife Margaret Montgomery Smith or Maich or Robertson by compressing her throat with his hands, strangling and murdering her.
Robertson also admitted that on July 4 at Tesco Stores Ltd, Wellgate, Dundee he fraudulently uplifted wages due to her and on July 8 at Leeds Permanent Building Society, Reform Street, Dundee, uttered as genuine a withdrawal slip for £2913 to be paid from his wife's account and received the money.
