Arrangements were made on Tuesday at a meeting of the local branch of the Women's Social and Political Union for the holding of a demonstration in Dundee early next month, in which such well-known suffragettes as Mrs Despard, Mrs Philip Snowdon, Mrs Billington-Greig and Miss Christabel Pankhurst are to take part. The meeting decided to procure a banner bearing a suitable motto for the Dundee branch.
The Central Lending Library Department of the Free Libraries was re-opened today after the annual stocktaking and cleaning. On Saturday morning a large amount of business was done. In all 1384 readers' cards were applied for and many books issued.
During the weeks closed a new supplementary catalogue has been compiled and is now on sale. This is a large and elaborate publication, being 65 pages double column super-roy 8 v-o and it contains the names of the authors of 2576 volumes with the contents of the numerous magazines all set out individually - a great privilege to readers.
The new books range over every branch of good literature, special attention having evidently been given to the higher literature, to technical and mechanical works and to healthy, brightly-written, yet educative works for the young.
This large and elaborate catalogue is sold at the lower price of a penny.
Operations were started on Thursday in connection with the extension of the Dundee tramway system to Downfield, where a large squad of men were engaged excavating the street at Fairmuir. In order to prevent and dislocation to traffic a single line will only be laid down at the present time.

Sketch plans for the new school to be erected in Dens Road to provide accommodation for the scholars in St Salvador's Episcopal School which is to close, have been prepared by Mr Langlands, the architect. They were laid before a meeting of the Works Committee on Thursday but consideration of them was deferred until Monday, where the committee will be specially called together for the purpose.
