Oats Go Further

Sammy

We moved house and left behind friends, neighbours and Sammy our seagull. I used to keep the window open in good weather and he came right in. When the window was closed he banged on the glass. I was scared he would break the window or harm his beak. I worried a lot about him when we left.

Long Cue

A 24 hour marathon starts at the Douglas Community Centre tomorrow at 6pm. For some time now the members have felt their centre's snooket table needs a new cover.

So what better way to raise the cash that with a sponsored 24 hour snooker game. Quartet who'll be attempting the Steve Davis stuff are Wayne Low, Alan Dow, George Kinmond and Garry Cownie.

Craft Fair

Dundonians will have the chance to buy some unusual Christmas presents in the city centre tomorrow (Saturday). A group of local artists and craftsmen have got together to hire the Marryat Hall for a craft fair. It is expected that there will be around 50 stalls to choose from. Goods range from paintings to hand-woven garments and from home spun wool to stained-glass objects.
Admission to the fair is free and the doors will open at 10.30am.

Pigs In Blankets

Take 1lb pork sausages, 8 long potatoes and a little butter.
Scrub potatoes, take "core" out of each length-wise with an apple corer (use later in soup). Dry patatoes, prick all over and brush with butter. Dip each sausage in cold water and it will slide into potato cavity. Place on a baking tray, sprinkle with a little salt. Bake for 45 minutes at 400 degrees. Serve with green vegetables.
Easy - Mrs M. Hart.
