Lots of old folk in Lochee have taken on a new lease of life and its thanks to the King George VI Memorial Club in Harefield Road. The club opened by the Princess Margaret is the most up to date in Scotland. The main hall catches the sun and electric underfloor heating ensures that it is cosy at all times.Any member can have a three course lunch each day or High tea on a Saturday at a cost of 1s 3d per meal. The old folk can also have a cup of tea and a biscuit for 3d in the afternoon. A TV set, piano and radiogram and lots of games have been gifted. The old folk often have concerts in the afternoons or on Saturday evenings.
Club hours are 10am to 5.30pm on weekdays and 2pm to 8pm on Saturdays and the W.V.S members are kept busy organising activities and making sure the members are well looked after.

Your local heat and area final will be held in the J.M. Ballroom, North Tay Street, Dundee on Friday 14th March.
The winner of the area final on that evening will receive free travelling expenses to and from the grand final to be held in Morecambe; £20 in cash; one weeks free holiday at Morecambe Bay Holiday Camp and visit to the theatres.

Broughty Ferry Development Assistant this week approved a list of entertainments to cost over £150 from the beginning of July to mid August. The list includes dancing displays, concert parties, fancy dress competition, a baby show, sand building, pipe and brass band shows and a lifeboat display. The association badly need a piano for their summer programme.
A proposal to convert Princes Street Congregational Church Dundee into a retail warehouse for the Clydesdale Supply Co. Ltd, was turned down by the corporation this week. Grounds for refusal were the unsuitablity of the site in relation to car parking and servicing problems involved.
