A disgraceful scene was witnessed in Ancrum Road on Saturday forenoon. Shortly after 11am, Constable Paton observed a woman running about that thoroughfare in a semi-nude condition. She was perfectly mad with drink, and was cursing and swearing, using the most offensive language. She had taken off all her clothes with the exception of her chemise in a field nearby and proceeding to Ancrum Road, danced in front of a large squad of men engaged at the relief works. The Constable had considerable difficulty getting the woman clothed, in fact her clothes had to be forcibly put on. The woman appeared before The Magistrates at Dundee Police Court charged with disorderliness. Her name was Frances Simpson, she was described as a laundrymaid, living in Victoria House. The Magistrate imposed a fine of 10s with the alternative of 7 days in jail.

I don't remember ever doing anything very funny when I was little, but I can remember once giving our doctor an answer which nearly took his breath away. I had been very bad with whooping cough and when I began to feel a little better, of course I was very thin. When the doctor came in one day and noticing how thin my legs were he said " When are you going to get these stockings filled up?" I replied at once "When Santa Clus comes" - Anne Ellis.
