The Kingsway, Dundee's super road, is now completed from Arbroath Road at Strips of Craigie, to Coupar Angus Road beyond Lochee. This is not the end of it though, for it is to be continued right out over Liff Road to join the main Perth Road beyond Invergowrie. Several weeks ago now the last stage of about half a mile was opened for public use - the stretch finishing on Coupar Angus Road, and the hundreds of motorists who use this road, particularly at weekends are wondering when the surface is to be made up. It has been left its rough unfinished stat and coming to it from the fine surface at either end is apt to get a nasty shake-up.

Broughty Ferry is to have a navy week all to itself in October. A cruiser is to lie in the Tay off Broughty Ferry from the 11th to the 20th October. Some time ago the carnival committee endeavoured to secure the co-operation of the naval authorities during carnival week by having one of His Majesty's ships sent to the seaside resort. At that time the Admiralty replied that owing to the lateness of the application and the fact that their summer cruisers had been fixed nothing could be done.
Now however, the carnival secretary, Mr James Johnston has received a communication from the Admiralty informing him that His Majesty's cruiser Cairo, will visit Broughty Ferry from 11th to the 20th October. The carnival committee has asked for the co-ordination of Dundee Town Council to make navy week an event of outstanding interest. The cruiser will be open to inspection by the public. The carnival committee intend to organise sports and indoor entertainments for the Officers and Crew.
Dundee experienced a sharp thunderstorm on Sunday afternoon. About half past one, dark clouds formed over Fife and torrential rain fell for over an hour. Heavy thunder pearls and vivid flashes of lightening were experienced. The rumble of the thunder was heard faintly at first in Dundee but gradually came nearer and nearer until directly over the city. Then came the deluge. For fully half an hour rain decended in torrents in the city. People in the open ran for the nearest shelter and the streets were quickly deserted. The downpour then slackened off but rain continued to fall for another hour. Although the deluge approximately close to high tide, no flooding was reported in the vicinity of the docks.
