Steak Roll 1954

Take 1lb of Stewing Steak, 2oz Dripping, 3 tblsp breadcrumbs, 1oz suet, 1 egg, Juice of half a lemon, Salt & pepper Have the steak cut in one piece. Make a stuffing from the breadcrumbs, suet, egg, lemon juice and salt and pepper. Lay the stuffing on the steak, roll up and tie loosely. Heat the dripping on a baking tray, add the meat and cook in a moderate oven for 1½ hour. Serve with gravy.
