City Police Foil Communists

NethergateCommunist demonstrations were held in Dundee on Thursday night, the largest meeting being in the West Port. The police were fully prepared to cope with any disturbances. Deputations were selected at West Port to proceed to Councillor G.F.F  Caldwell's house in Blackness Avenue and Councillor A. Aimer's house in Dudhope Street but police were appraised of their plans and when the reached their respective destinations they found detachments of police in readiness. Consequently their intentions of interviewing the Councillors were not carried out.

Easy Dinner for Washing Day

A tasty dinner dish. Peel and slice a few onions and put in a layer in the bottom of a greased pie-dish, sprinkle over some oatmeal, salt and pepper and a few small pieces of butter. Clean and slice a few potatoes and put a layer of them next with salt and pepper and a few pieces of butter. Repeat until dish is full and bake in oven until cooked.

Coffee Stall in High Street

A fine looking vehicle bearing a resemblance to a modern caravan it has brown coachwork and is fitted with pneumatic tyres. The stall took up stance opposite Lipton's shop and business began immediately.

Salt to the Rescue

It is wonderful how many things salt may be used for. If thrown on the carpet before sweeping the colours will be brighter. In washing coloured clothes if a handful is put in the water the colour will neither run or fade. If anything has been burnt in the oven, throw salt in and it will take all the smell away. If rubbed on china or earthenware it will take out the stains of tea, eggs, burns and if applied at once it will take our in stains.

Worthy Record

The number of students in Dundee at present stands at 1819. This figure shows a decrease from last year, chiefly due to the continued trade depression. In spite of this, however the record is a worthy one.

New Golf Course at Downfield
