Dundee’s Laser Spectacular Turns our a Damp Squib
Crowds filled the beaches on both sides of the Tay, hundreds lined the Kingsway and eager family’s clambers over Balgay Hill in anticipation of the weekend’s much-publicised laser show on the Law, Dundee.

Dundee’s Day of Disaster
Yesterday’s rejection of Dundee by Ford was a sad day for Scotland and a complete disaster for the city.
Last night a choir of voices was raised. Suddenly there was nothing councillors would not do to bring Ford to Dundee. Unions urged and local M.P.s were bitterly disappointed. Read more......

Floodlit Law Next Winter
Dundee Law is to be floodlit from next winter to provide a spectacular city skyline feature. Floodlighting will continue for at least five years.
When the district planning and development committee approved the arrangements last night, Mr Charles Bowman, convener, said he thought it would be an excellent thing which would pick out well one of the city’s prominent landmarks. Read more......

Station Site Looks Set to be Location for New Ice Rink
A new custom-built ice rink complex on a site north of Dundee Station now looks to be a very real possibility.
Talks between the board of Dundee Angus Ice Rink plc and the Dundee Project partners, particularly the Scottish Development agency, the owners of the land involved, have been taking place about just such a development.
Although the negotiations are said to be at a relatively early stage, both side appear keen to reach an agreement. Read more......

Fire-damaged School - Out of Use for Months
Blackness Primary School Dundee, which was severely damaged by fire early yesterday morning, is expected to be closed for the remainder of the school year.
The cost of repairs was put at between £150,000 and £200,000 by Tayside Regional Council in preliminary estimates late yesterday. Read more......

Shareholder Angus Cook last night stepped up his bid to gain control of Dundee Football Club. The millionaire property developer has purchased a further 20,000 ordinary voting shares, thus increasing his holding to 70,000 voting shares or 37.8% of the club’s issued share capital. Read more......
