I was in E4 and 32nd in the class and was made up when I went to 31st only because someone left.<span class="read-more"><a href="/reminiscences/tattie-picking"><strong>&nbsp;Read more......</strong></a></span></p> High Street 1950's Armed Forces Moving away from Dundee School Days Jim Brave Brantwood/The Glens Tue, 15 Mar 2011 15:51:08 +0000 lynne.davidson 696 at http://bygone.dundeecity.gov.uk Kirriemuir Evacuee http://bygone.dundeecity.gov.uk/reminiscences/kirriemuir-evacuee <p><span class='wysiwyg_imageupload image imgupl_floating_right imgupl_styles_spacing_20_black_border\n\rBlack Border'><a href="http://bygone.dundeecity.gov.uk/sites/default/files/imagecache/wysiwyg_imageupload_lightbox_preset/wysiwyg_imageupload/9/evacb09-027_0.png" rel="lightbox[wysiwyg_imageupload_inline]" title=""><img src="http://bygone.dundeecity.gov.uk/sites/default/files/imagecache/medium/wysiwyg_imageupload/9/evacb09-027_0.png" alt="" title="" class="imagecache wysiwyg_imageupload imgupl_styles_spacing_20_black_border\n\rBlack Border imagecache imagecache-medium" style="" width="230" height="165" /></a> <span class='image_meta'></span></span>I went to Butterburn School, now demolished and then to Rockwell for 1941 - 1944. I left when I was 15 years old. I have lots of happy memories from both schools, and often wonder where all my classmates are now? I was evacuated to Kirriemuir in 1939 when the war broke out, and I went to schools there also. I am now a war widow, but I often look back and remember my happy school days.</p> 1940's Evacuation School Days War Years Jean Hendrie (nee Simpson) Brantwood/The Glens Tue, 15 Mar 2011 15:21:42 +0000 lynne.davidson 691 at http://bygone.dundeecity.gov.uk Law Tunnel http://bygone.dundeecity.gov.uk/reminiscences/law-tunnel <p><span class='wysiwyg_imageupload image imgupl_floating_right imgupl_styles_spacing_20_black_border\n\rBlack Border'><a href="http://bygone.dundeecity.gov.uk/sites/default/files/imagecache/wysiwyg_imageupload_lightbox_preset/wysiwyg_imageupload/9/law_b27_117.png" rel="lightbox[wysiwyg_imageupload_inline]" title=""><img src="http://bygone.dundeecity.gov.uk/sites/default/files/imagecache/medium/wysiwyg_imageupload/9/law_b27_117.png" alt="" title="" class="imagecache wysiwyg_imageupload imgupl_styles_spacing_20_black_border\n\rBlack Border imagecache imagecache-medium" style="" width="230" height="165" /></a> <span class='image_meta'></span></span>I was born at 58, Hill Street in 1933 and went to Butterburn School and then Rockwell High. I remember when as a young boy going through the Law Tunnel. There was always stories going around about people that had gone into the tunnel and never came out, so it was a brave kid that would dare to go from, one end to the other. It started at the tennis court in Upper Constitution Street and came out at the Law Crescent gardens at Byron Street.</p> Byron Street Law Crescent Upper Constitution Street 1930's Childhood Anonymous Brantwood/The Glens Law Hill Wed, 02 Mar 2011 15:05:56 +0000 lynne.davidson 569 at http://bygone.dundeecity.gov.uk Belmont Summer Camp http://bygone.dundeecity.gov.uk/reminiscences/belmont-summer-camp <p>I went twice to the camp first time with St Columba's primary in 1963 and then again with St John's in 1967.<span class="read-more"><a href="/reminiscences/belmont-summer-camp"><strong>&nbsp;Read more......</strong></a></span></p> 1960's Childhood Ceejay Brantwood/The Glens Tue, 01 Mar 2011 14:35:35 +0000 lynne.davidson 551 at http://bygone.dundeecity.gov.uk
