A gang of seven, we made several friends, among them a crowd who claimed to be known as the "Dundee Bums".
Broughty Ferry Road Bands / Groups Dancing / Dance Halls Work / Working Life Brian Rogers Broughty Ferry City Centre Fri, 14 Aug 2015 11:05:18 +0000 lynne.davidson 1332 at http://bygone.dundeecity.gov.uk Happy and Sad Memories of Dundee http://bygone.dundeecity.gov.uk/reminiscences/happy-and-sad-memories-dundee
I first lived at 21 Kinloch Street at the foot of the Law Hill. An old tenement with 1 bedroom and kitchen/front room. The coalman used to come in and dump the bag of coal in the space under the wooden draining board. We moved to Findcastle Street in 1953 and we thought it was great, a new house and a garden. I went to St. Vincent's infants and primary school. It was a long walk to school. Then on to St. Michael's in Graham Street, we got a penny transfer for 2 buses. Used to go the Marryat (near Caird Hall) and the Palais to see all the bands. Read more......
Hilltown Kinloch Street 1950's Bands / Groups Childhood Family Playing / Games Monica Cooper (now Ward) Fintry Hilltown Kingsway Law Hill Stobswell Mon, 29 Jun 2015 09:09:09 +0000 lynne.davidson 1327 at http://bygone.dundeecity.gov.uk Dundee is my heaven on earth http://bygone.dundeecity.gov.uk/reminiscences/dundee-my-heaven-earth
I was born in Maryfield Hospital in 1947. My mum Ruby Fisken was a long time nurse there. My dad Jim played the piano in a local band that played at the dancehalls. I used to go and sit by his side. By the time the night was over, you couldn't see anyone's heads for the secondhand smoke.

In summer, I loved going for a day at Broughty Beach. When the bus would start and stop, all the shells of the wilks would run back and forward. Read more......
Bands / Groups Celebrations / Occasions Childhood Cinema / Theatre Coronation Entertainment Family Fifies (Tay Ferries) Food and Drink Holidays/Day Trips Music / Concerts Royal Family Pam Fisken Fri, 07 Mar 2014 16:16:11 +0000 fiona.christison 1196 at http://bygone.dundeecity.gov.uk Andy Lothian and his Band http://bygone.dundeecity.gov.uk/reminiscences/andy-lothian-and-his-band

The band were: Read more......
Bands / Groups Dancing / Dance Halls Music / Concerts Carolyn Lothian Wed, 13 Jun 2012 12:58:19 +0000 fiona.christison 969 at http://bygone.dundeecity.gov.uk Happy Ever After Band http://bygone.dundeecity.gov.uk/reminiscences/happy-ever-after-band
I lived in Dundee until 1976 when I moved to Leeds to pursue a musical career, which was good until I retired this year. In Dundee I was the singer with 'Happy Ever After' before going solo and remember playing the Dee Club, Angus Hotel and all the American bases. It was a great life and I would like any fellow musicians who remember me to get in touch.
1970's Bands / Groups Dancing / Dance Halls Entertainment Music / Concerts Cody Thu, 03 Mar 2011 12:28:54 +0000 lynne.davidson 596 at http://bygone.dundeecity.gov.uk
