Bygone News - Andrew Woodcock http://bygone.dundeecity.gov.uk/taxonomy/term/319/0 en 78, Lochee Road http://bygone.dundeecity.gov.uk/reminiscences/78-lochee-road <p>I lived above Andrew Woodcock in mentioned&nbsp; 78, Lochee Road. I live near&nbsp;Aberdeen now, but last time I drove down Lochee road, the old tenement had&nbsp;been demolished. Andrew's brother Stuart was my pal during that time and my&nbsp;brother Andrew B was Andrew W's pal. All the "noisy" families lived over one&nbsp;another.<span class="read-more"><a href="/reminiscences/78-lochee-road"><strong>&nbsp;Read more......</strong></a></span></p> Lochee Road Animals Childhood Andrew Woodcock Gordon Ballantyne Lochee Fri, 18 Sep 2015 10:50:40 +0000 lynne.davidson 1336 at http://bygone.dundeecity.gov.uk Dudhope Castle http://bygone.dundeecity.gov.uk/reminiscences/dudhope-castle <p><span class='wysiwyg_imageupload image imgupl_floating_right imgupl_styles_spacing_20_black_border\n\rBlack Border'><a href="http://bygone.dundeecity.gov.uk/sites/default/files/imagecache/wysiwyg_imageupload_lightbox_preset/wysiwyg_imageupload/9/dudhopepk_0.png" rel="lightbox[wysiwyg_imageupload_inline]" title=""><img src="http://bygone.dundeecity.gov.uk/sites/default/files/imagecache/medium/wysiwyg_imageupload/9/dudhopepk_0.png" alt="" title="" class="imagecache wysiwyg_imageupload imgupl_styles_spacing_20_black_border\n\rBlack Border imagecache imagecache-medium" style="" width="230" height="165" /></a> <span class='image_meta'></span></span>Does anyone remember the cages surrounding the Dudhope Castle and all the animals and birds they contained? Or do you remember when the prisoner of war camp was in Barrack Square and the cookhouse was also in the square at the top between the museum and the castle?&nbsp; I have been looking for photos relating to the but to date I have drawn a blank.<span class="read-more"><a href="/reminiscences/dudhope-castle"><strong>&nbsp;Read more......</strong></a></span></p> Armed Forces Parks Andrew Woodcock Dudhope Tue, 01 Mar 2011 16:07:03 +0000 lynne.davidson 562 at http://bygone.dundeecity.gov.uk My Younger Days http://bygone.dundeecity.gov.uk/reminiscences/my-younger-days <p><span class='wysiwyg_imageupload image imgupl_floating_right imgupl_styles_spacing_20_black_border\n\rBlack Border'><a href="http://bygone.dundeecity.gov.uk/sites/default/files/imagecache/wysiwyg_imageupload_lightbox_preset/wysiwyg_imageupload/9/dudhopepk.png" rel="lightbox[wysiwyg_imageupload_inline]" title=""><img src="http://bygone.dundeecity.gov.uk/sites/default/files/imagecache/medium/wysiwyg_imageupload/9/dudhopepk.png" alt="" title="" class="imagecache wysiwyg_imageupload imgupl_styles_spacing_20_black_border\n\rBlack Border imagecache imagecache-medium" style="" width="230" height="165" /></a> <span class='image_meta'></span></span>Born in 1939 I attended Mitchell Street and Logie Schools. During my younger days I lived in the tenement at the top of Smellies Lane and Lochee Road. The building stood on Lochee Road facing the Dudhope Park where I played footie day in and day out during our holidays from school. We called the area where we played Hampden. This was situated and is still there in front of the tennis and bowling courses.<span class="read-more"><a href="/reminiscences/my-younger-days"><strong>&nbsp;Read more......</strong></a></span></p> Lochee Road Mitchell Street Smellies Lane 1940's Childhood Football Holidays/Day Trips School Days Andrew Woodcock City Centre Overgate Polepark Tue, 01 Mar 2011 16:04:27 +0000 lynne.davidson 561 at http://bygone.dundeecity.gov.uk
