One morning when the snow fell heavily my Dad took me with him get a bag of coke to boost our coal supply, from a coal merchant at Clepington Road.<span class="read-more"><a href="/reminiscences/poor-wee-soul"><strong>&nbsp;Read more......</strong></a></span></p> </div> Clepington Road Childhood Trams Irene Kirkton / Trottick Mon, 14 Mar 2011 16:45:19 +0000 lynne.davidson 675 at http://bygone.dundeecity.gov.uk Lochee in the 50s and 60s http://bygone.dundeecity.gov.uk/reminiscences/lochee-50s-and-60s <div class="content clear-block"> <p><span class='wysiwyg_imageupload image imgupl_floating_right imgupl_styles_spacing_20_black_border\n\rBlack Border'><a href="http://bygone.dundeecity.gov.uk/sites/default/files/imagecache/wysiwyg_imageupload_lightbox_preset/wysiwyg_imageupload/9/lochee3.png" rel="lightbox[wysiwyg_imageupload_inline]" title=""><img src="http://bygone.dundeecity.gov.uk/sites/default/files/imagecache/medium/wysiwyg_imageupload/9/lochee3.png" alt="" title="" class="imagecache wysiwyg_imageupload imgupl_styles_spacing_20_black_border\n\rBlack Border imagecache imagecache-medium" style="" width="230" height="165" /></a> <span class='image_meta'></span></span>I was brought up in South Road, Lochee during the 50s and 60s. My dad drove lorries for Allison's transport in Clepington Road and my mum worked in the fish cannery, this was right across from our close. It was a great time running around Tipperary and the boag, up to Lochee Park, playing on the swings and roundabout, then another walk to Balgay Hill, this would be done in one day.<span class="read-more"><a href="/reminiscences/lochee-50s-and-60s"><strong>&nbsp;Read more......</strong></a></span></p> </div> Clepington Road South Road 1960's Parks Playing / Games School Days Work / Working Life Dougie Taylor Lochee Fri, 04 Mar 2011 14:50:54 +0000 lynne.davidson 603 at http://bygone.dundeecity.gov.uk Fond Memories http://bygone.dundeecity.gov.uk/reminiscences/fond-memories <p><span class='wysiwyg_imageupload image imgupl_floating_right imgupl_styles_spacing_20_black_border\n\rBlack Border'><a href="http://bygone.dundeecity.gov.uk/sites/default/files/imagecache/wysiwyg_imageupload_lightbox_preset/wysiwyg_imageupload/9/fruitshop.png" rel="lightbox[wysiwyg_imageupload_inline]" title=""><img src="http://bygone.dundeecity.gov.uk/sites/default/files/imagecache/medium/wysiwyg_imageupload/9/fruitshop.png" alt="" title="" class="imagecache wysiwyg_imageupload imgupl_styles_spacing_20_black_border\n\rBlack Border imagecache imagecache-medium" style="" width="230" height="165" /></a> <span class='image_meta'></span></span>I was born in Glentrium Terrace in 1949, but although I don't remember it, mum and dad couldn't afford the house, so we moved in with grandma and grandad. They had a huge house in Commercial Street and I remember grandma used to take in policemen as lodgers! Dad had the fruit shop at the top of the Hilltown. I wonder if anyone remembers it?<span class="read-more"><a href="/reminiscences/fond-memories"><strong>&nbsp;Read more......</strong></a></span></p> Clepington Road Cobden Street 1940's Work / Working Life Dundeelass Hilltown Tue, 01 Mar 2011 15:17:01 +0000 lynne.davidson 553 at http://bygone.dundeecity.gov.uk
