Local Intelligence
The Clepington Strike - the operatives at the Clepington Spinning Works, who have for several days been out on strike, refused to return to work yesterday morning. On Monday morning at six o'clock they will have another opportunity of recommencing work.
Dundee Model Yacht Club
A cup race was sailed for 15-tonners on Saturday afternoon. The winners were J. Hales, J. Patrick and A. Strachan. There was also sailed the final heats of 10-tonners for the Gordon Challenge Medal and those resulted in Mr A. Hossicks boat sailed by A. Davidson running in the winner. This medal has to be won three times (not necessarily in succession) before it becomes the absolute property of the successful one.
Singing and Voice Production

Salaries at Dundee Libraries
Increase to assistants - at a meeting of Dundee Free Libraries Committee on Thursday a discussion took place regarding the salaries of assistants. The matter was brought forward by ex-Lord Provost Hunter, the Chairman, who suggested that the Chief Assistants salary should be raised from £100 a year to £126 a year, an increase of 10s per week; and that the assistant in the Reference Department get an additional 5s a week. A statement was submitted showing the salaries paid to assistants in Edinburgh and Glasgow which were larger than were paid in Dundee.

A Triple Misfortune
James Reilly, calender worker, Small's Lane, lost two bottles of beer on Saturday evening. He then lost his temper and he has now lost his liberty for forty days. He was troubled with a thirst on Saturday evening and as this had not been assauged to his satisfaction by ten o'clock he took two bottles of beer home with him. He hid them at the door and shortly afterwards when he went to look for them, he found they were gone. Suspecting that his wife had something to do with it he attacked her and was sentenced on Monday at the Police Court.
The Wrong Umbrella
Luncheon in Royal Hotel Hall on Thursday. The gentlemen who took the wrong umbrella in error will oblige by returning to Mr Gray, 20 Perth Road.

Of this series the Dens Park game takes precedence. The local team has now to regain favour with the crowd after the Airdrie affair, and nothing could better accomplish this than a victory over the light Blues.
Cherryfield Hall Lectures
This week the people of Blackness district had a treat provided for them in Cherryfield Hall. Mr and Mrs C.W. Scrimgeour who had recently returned from the Holy Land, exhibited by means of lime light a series of photographs of their tour comprising - Beyrout, Damascus, Jordan Valley, Lake of Galilee, Safed and Nazareth. Mr Scrimgeour gave a descriptive lecture which was followed by a cinematograph exhibition. The hall was filled with appreciative audiences.
