Won Contract
Veeder Root Ltd., Dundee, won a £1 million contract for the supply of over 500 petrol pumps to Shell Denmark. But, despite this order, Veeder Root will have to make 75 more employees redundant because of the present recession.
Big Sports Complex for Dundee
Plans for a £2 million sports and exhibition complex in Dundee were announced yestreday by business man Mr Tom Stewart. It would include facilities for ice hockey, skaing, football, boxing, badminton, tennis & c and have a forty-bedroom hotel, nightclub and shops. Several sites are being considered. Mr Stewart said it would provide 51 full time jobs and 86 part time.
Keiller's Factory
A number of companies at home and abroad have shown interest in Keiller's factory in Mains Loan, Dundee, which Nestle are relinquishing next year. But nothing positive has so far happened.
A Human Foot
Tayside Police are investigating the discovery of a human foot on the foreshore at Monifieth. It was found between Albert Street and Balmossie Street by a dog belonging to Mrs W. Robertson, Durham Street.

The First Snow
The first snow of the winter fell on Dundee on Sunday morning, creating hazardous driving conditions, particularly on the Dundee-Forfar road which was closed at Petterden for 4 hours around noon. The Met. Men at Leuchars said it was the earliest snow they'd ever recorded, previous earliest being October 27th in 1948.

A little girl's coat was too short in the sleeves. Her mother knitted cuffs, collar and a hat in chunky wool and made a lovely outfit which fitted well.
Dundee Operatic's Show
Dundee Operatic Society's two night show of excerpts from stage hits attracted over 800 to Bonar Hall. Guest artistes were Silvie Taylor and four of Moira Anderson's dancers. Producer was John Whitehead and Olive Bruce was at the piano.
