Dundee Reserve Team

High StreetDundee are playing a trialist at outside-left in their reserve team against St Mirren reserves at Dens Park. Willie Thornton is staying in Dundee to watch. No hint is given about the boy, but he is said to be a good one. This is the third week in succession he will have been with the reserve team.

Manx Rarebit

Take three large potaotes peeled and grated, two rashers bacon cut up with sissors, three tomatoes, sliced (onions maybe used instead or as well) two beaten eggs, two tblsp oatmeal, 2oz fat, salt and pepper.

Melt the fat and fry onion, bacon and potato quickly then add the tomato, oatmeal and salt and pepper then stir in the eggs. Brown under the grill.

Lipstick Beauty

A three year old Broughty Ferry lass was travelling to town by bus with her mother when a neighbour sat down beside them. During a lull in the conversation the little girl asked her mother's friend "Why do you wear lipstick", laughing the lady replied " To make me beautiful". "Well" was the innocent reply" Why don’t' you put on more?"

Stains On Socks

A reader wanted to know how to remove stains from children's socks. My method is to wet the sock and apply baking soda generously to the stain, rub well and wash as usual.
