Stores Closing
Alex Smith Stores Ltd are closing their 100 High Street, Lochee, branch tomorrow (Saturday). Mr Smith says bad planning split the Lochee shopping area and cut his trade by 75% Smiths' store has been in Lochee for 30 years. There are other branches in Commercial Street, Hilltown and Wellgate.
Dundee Zoo Man on "Krypton Factor"
The many Dundee school children who've come to know George Reid as their friendly "zoo man" can look forward to seeing him in a highly-popular TV show. For George (26) has been chosen as a contestant for the prestigious ITV programme, "The Krypton Factor".
It's impossible to "mug-up" on general knowledge or prepare for the tough puzzles which are put to "Krypton" hopefuls in the studio part of the programme. But George is very much in training for the physical part of the event, which features a neck-or-nothing race over an assault course.
The show involving George will be screened on July 7th at 7 pm.

Table-Tennis Topper
The title of top woman table-tennis player of Scotland's universities has been won by a Dundee girl.
Elizabeth Wood (23) of Denoon Terrace, took the ladies' singles at the championships, held at Herriot-Watt University, in Edinburgh.
She plays her club table tennis with The Hecklers, and she is also a member of Harris F.P. ladies' tennis team.
