Big Restart in the Jute Trade
Good News For Workers...
It is gratifying to report that a restart of machinery on a large scale is about to be made in Dundee. Some three months ago in Tay Works there was a great reduction of output, the result of which was that fully 600 hands were thrown out of employment.In the interval trade prospects have improved to an extent that steps are being taken to resume working in these departments of the great establishment in question which have been shut down. At the moment operations are in progress, the end of which it is intended, will be that all the departments of the Tay Works will be put in full operation after the conclusion of the summer vacation.

Prune Shape
Stew 1lb of prunes, half a pound of sugar and a few strips of lemon peel til tender. Take out the stones and dissolve in 6 leaves of gelatine, put in a mould to firm. Make 1 pint milk and 2 eggs into custard, let it stand in oven until firm, when cold cut into shape and set round the prunes in a glass dish.
Orphan Institute Picnic
The children and staff of the Dundee Orphan Institute enjoyed their annual picnic to Pitmuies and Guthrie on Saturday.

Dundee Football Club's Loss Last Year..
As regards it's financial aspect last season had been an unfortunate one for Dundee Football Club Ltd., and at an annual meeting of the club held on Monday, the report showed a deficit of £580 on the years working.
