Happy Hogmanay Revellers...

D.M.Brown's The absence of of Dundee's Pillars and particularly of the Town House clock did not detract from the spirit of Hogmanay in the city. The High Street was crowded as usual by a merry throng numbering about 5000. Bright paper hats and carnival decorations were much in evidence. The custom of first footing was as popular as ever and everywhere there were merry bands of revellers carrying New Year gifts. Many Hogmanay dances were  held. There was very little disorderliness in the city.
