"Ye Amphibious Ancients"

City SqaureOn Saturday Messers Thomson, Blair and Murdoch, three members of "Ye Amphibious Ancients" a confraternity who take their morning dip, summer and winter from the railway pier, successfully accomplished the passage of the Tay. Entering the water opposite Church Street, the trio, who were accompanied by a boat, struck out for Tayport. A strong ebb tide carried the intrepid swimmers eastwards, but they all stuck manfully to the task, which all completed.        

Dundee Football Club's Loss Last Year..

As regards it's financial aspect last season had been an unfortunate one for Dundee Football Club Ltd., and at an annual meeting of the club held on Monday, the report showed a deficit of £580 on the years working.

Crisp Apple Fritters

2 eggs beaten seperately, one teacupful of sweet milk, two cupfuls of flour, a good pinch of salt. Beat the yolks well, then add milk and flour gradually, then the salt. Beat eggs white until thick. Pare apple and cut into quarters and slice very thinly. Stir apples into batter. Cook in very hot oil, drain and sprinkle with castor sugar and serve hot.

How To Dry Mint Leaves

Mint like other herbs should be gathered on a dry day and the proper season for doing so is the end of June or July. Cleanse the leaves and dry by the heat of a stove, or in an oven. Pick off the leaves, pound and sift. Put into stoppered bottles, label and put away for use.
